Aim at the 10 and hook into it hard so you can carry the 9. Always works for me.

Not exactly the point of the thread Rowdy.
Those are all good systems I learned the KISS one last year and have gained about 25 pins in average since.

If you gained that many pins, you leave that spare way too many times !

Just so some of you less experieced bowlers know in advance. The 2 4 6 system will more than likey not work on a house shot. You will be throwing the ball up the puddle in the middle and it will not work.

"Not the point of the thread"? Huh? I thought we were talking about how to take down the 3-6-9. I aim at where the 10 pin would be and let the ball hook into the right side of the 3 pin. The ball covers the 6-9. How much harder do you want to make this shot? It's a simple spare to pick up. Some of you guys overthink this stuff WAY too much. You don't need any "system" for making spares. It takes a lot of practice. What works for one guy may not work for you because of the differences in the basic shape of the shot you throw. Some guys can flatten their wrist out and go straight at the 10. Some have to throw a small hook to pick it up. Is one way better than the other? Both convert the spare, but one guy may not be able or feel comfortable throwing a straight ball. Myself,I throw a hook at everything. That's just me and what I'm comfy with. But I'll throw at nothing but the 10 pin for a half hour each time I practice. If you never practice the shot, how on earth can you expect to throw it for score in a league setting with additional pressure on yourself???

Amen Rowdy. That is what I tell people all the time. They always ask why I never miss a 10 pin or a single pin spare. I always say "Because I used to, so I decided to practice" Its just that simple nothing more than practice

For me I've cycled through many different spare shooting systems in the last year and a bit. I finally found what works best for me and it's definitely the KISS.

As Parker Bohn told me "You get up in the morning, you put on pants, you leave a ten pin you pick it up." Personally I throw spares across the lane and strait. Now if I can get consistent hitting my mark, maybe I'll meet some goals this year...
